The SEC web site www.sec.gov/divisions/corpfin/cffinancialreportingmanual.shtml has on it the
Corporate Finance Reporting Manual this is a sixteen topic registrant’s manual
about financial reporting requirements including non-GAAP requirements. It
includes statutes, rules, and forms, compliance and disclosures
interpretations, means of contacting the SEC about various issues, frequently
requested material, and EDGAR.
EDGAR (Electronic Data
Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval system)
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requires large US based public
companies to file registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms
electronically through EDGAR. Anyone can access and download information from
this site and best of all - IT'S FREE. The site includes links to a complete
list of filings as well as instructions and a tutorial on how to search the
EDGAR database.
International Financial
Reporting Standards Resources
IFRS
has a website www.IFRS.com, which provides
a comprehensive look at many of the topics necessary for timely compliance. It
includes topics like convergence and training. There are publications, SEC
Staff papers, updates, and answers to frequently asked questions.
Private Company Financial
Reporting
The
Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) embarked on a major initiative to improve
the FASB’s current standard-setting process considering the needs of private
companies and their constituents of financial reporting. Part of that
initiative involves a new committee whose primary objectives are to provide
recommendations to the FASB as the FASB sets accounting standards for
privately-held enterprises. You will find the Private Company Financial
Reporting Committee’s recommendations to the FASB issued to date. In addition,
you will find information about the PCFRC’s meetings and a link to get involved

This is different from the SBA. It is where business go to grow.
The organization is under the wings of Rutgers University and there are 11
SBDC’s in the state of New Jersey. The Centers provide services to
entrepreneurs and small businesses who wish to establish their business in the
local area. They can help with business planning, marketing issues, and more.
